Manual Therapy

The many methods and techniques of manual therapy all involve specifically directed manual force to the body in order to improve range of motion, relieve muscle tension and to reduce musculoskeletal pain.

Because Prater View Chiropractic professionals are trained in a variety of massage and other manual therapy modalities; patients seeking manual therapy treatment are assured of receiving only the finest quality chiropractic care. Prater View Chiropractic professionals carefully evaluate your condition before administering manual therapy treatment which may include traction massage, deep tissue work, soft tissue mobilization, joint mobilization and more.
All manual therapies performed are meant to reduce pain and encourage total body wellness. Additional benefits of manual therapy include spasm relief, cell metabolism, disc decompression and the reduction of nerve pressure and scar tissue.

Adjustment

60 to 80 percent of the population in North America will suffer from back pain or injuries at some point during their lives, with one to five percent suffering from chronic back pain that lasts six months or longer. In order to address this common condition, Prater View Chiropractic will assess your specific condition and implement the safest and most effective subluxation correction methods.

Physiotherapy Modalities & Electrotherapy

Physiotherapy modalities and electrotherapy are commonly used in the treatment of many patients experiencing back, neck, arthritis and other musculoskeletal problems. In order to properly address our patients' ailments, Prater View Chiropractic utilizes the latest chiropractic techniques and technology to determine the most effective therapeutic procedures for your unique condition.

Below are some of the most frequently prescribed electrotherapy and physiotherapy modalities:

Low-Level Laser Therapy

Low-level laser therapy is a safe method of dealing with a wide range of common soft tissue injuries and skeletal conditions. The outcome of low-level laser therapy depends upon a particular range of wavelengths which accelerate the healing process by increasing the production of cellular energy and metabolism. By aiding cellular function, low-level laser therapy enables better healing and pain relief.

Muscle Stimulation

Muscle stimulation therapy administers low volt electrical pulses to specific areas of the body in order to stimulate motor nerves to cause muscle contractions, pain relief and/or to reduce inflammation. Electrical muscle stimulation is often used to prevent or reduce muscle atrophy.

TENS

A Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulator, more commonly referred to as a TENS unit, is a small, battery-powered, portable muscle and nerve stimulation machine that can be used at home to help control pain. A TENS unit is often times recommended to assist in reducing pain.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound therapy uses high energy sound waves to reduce muscles and joint pain. When these high energy sound waves are released from the head of an ultrasound machine and applied to soft tissues and joints, they facilitate increased blood flow and decreased swelling, pain, stiffness and spasms.

Ice and Heat Therapy

Depending upon the severity of your condition, both ice and heat can reduce pain or the inflammation of injured muscles and nerves. Cold therapy is often the best immediate treatment for recent injuries (first 72 hours following an acute injury.)  It helps reduce swelling and control pain immediately. Unlike cold therapy, heat therapy is generally used for those with chronic pain from previous injuries. Heat therapy not only reduces the patients' pain, but it also relaxes the sore, stiff muscles and/or joints and increases circulation.

Kinesio Taping

This is a form of taping that may reduce swelling, inflammation, bruising, aid in the relaxation of spasmed muscle, and/or support an injured tissue.  For over 25 years, Kinesio® has provided comfort and stability to our loyal users. Kinesio® Tex Gold™ offers patients a more gentle approach to rehabilitation than those provided by conventional athletic tape. On the heels of our unprecedented publicity and positive feedback from the 2008 Games in Beijing, we here at Kinesio® would like to invite you to experience what athletes and medical practitioners around the world are calling the rehabilitative and enhancement tool.
